Heroes of the Dark Ages

Do you remember? We, five heroes… once again stepped into the dawn of realms. Standing at the crossroads, the ominous red lights of the dark towers across the path was obscured by the smoke.

Leading to victory there are three paths, and all three are caught between the day and night, between the truth and word.

Those who pen epics set out one by one with passion in their hearts and the wind in their hair, as the war’s trumpet blows. Since the beginning of time, shades of the past have been circling the paths. The shades of the legendary heroes are those who have traveled these paths in the past. The voids in the masks brutally glow with long-forgotten victories.

You are drawn by the prey’s blaze, veering off the route, and diving into the gloomy trees. Because there is no single, fixed path to triumph, each story is unique but ever-changing just like how springs might overflow and then settle.

Five heroes standing before us in the dark; sharing the same ambition. Despite the passage of time, the struggle with our reflections in the dark mirror persevere.

What drives the hero to battle? Why does the bard write an epic?

The fact that your saga is still being told shows how truly alive you are. Have you now comprehended the significance of this never-ending loop?

And now… Do you realize the word bears the seal of truth?

Games in the MOBA genre, on the other hand, have the largest share of the industry volume of over 180 billion dollars today.

HotDA offers innovations that are not offered by the MOBAs on the market, both in terms of content and gameplay.

BOTH FAMILIAR AND NEW

The fundamental tenet of HOTDA is to give our players a quick and seamless gaming experience. One of the differences of HOTDA from other MOBAs that mostly offer generic characters; selectable characters are the most known epic heroes of world mythologies. Players from all over the world will relate to historical figures like Attila, King Arthur, bn-i Sina, Baybars, and Brunhilde who they are familiar with and have dreamed of since they were young.

Because of this feature, HOTDA is a story-focused game as opposed to all of its rivals, and it is made to be a whole with its technical features and narrative building upon one another.

In addition, it promises a fluid game experience equipped with features that young players who know and love this genre say “I wish it were like this”, where the technical problems of other games on the market that reduce the speed and cause balance defects are meticulously eliminated.

GAME DESIGN

Each player chooses a hero from a rich list of characters and they fight as two teams of human beings in a symmetrical arena.

Each team aims to take over the opposing base. The roads leading to the base are known by their technical name, “lane.” The playing surface referred to as the “3-lane map” in the above diagram is the arena that is used the most. There are “towers” that protect against the adversary inside the base and on the lanes. In addition, each team has soldiers under the control of artificial intelligence, which appear in their base and move in waves towards the opponent’s field.

The area between the lanes is called “jungle”. These are objects (monsters, unique items, and resources) that are not controlled by either team but nevertheless add to the game’s strategy by providing rewards, difficulties, and opportunities for growth.

While battling both on the field and with their opponents, players come up with a team strategy.

This setup is our playground. The teams represent two poles, Night and Day, as opposed to the first team and the second team because every aspect of HOTDA is story-centered. The map itself is also designed symmetrically with light and dark.

Due to the nature of the game, each hero that the players in the teams select has a specific role that they play.

For example, one hero is equipped with defense, another with support for teammates, and another with offensive features. Just like positions on a football team. Here, the arena placement strategy combined with the richness of our hero roster provides a high diversity that provides both a creative sporting event where the human factor beats the limited rules and an epic story experience.

In other words, the game supports both the creativity in the strategy of dominating the lanes and the tactical skills of the team game, while also allowing for unexpected turns and an exciting experience.

At the same time, our vision at Frostline Games is to immerse the player in the unique narrative experience of each match. A narrator voice praising the players’ successful moves, just as the announcer does at a sports event, combined with the explosive feel of the physics engine’s realistic experience, gives players the experience of writing their own legends in every match.

GAME PLAY

Traditionally, the majority of MOBAs have a bird’s-eye view of the map and use “click-and-click” mechanics, while HotDA offers the player a third-person perspective experience unlike its biggest rivals. In this way, the feeling of both dominating the field and identifying with the character is increased.

After the player enters the game, she first chooses a hero from the hero list. Each hero has a standard list of abilities. Some heroes are faster, some are more durable, some are stronger, some are smarter. Also, each hero has a unique skill list. These are attack, healing, area control, defense, etc. active and passive skills. These are four, unique to each hero. Combinations of these four skills that create a wide array of possibilities that can be used in a row add strategic depth to the game.

The hero evolves as the player plays with the hero. But this development is not unidirectional, but in a tree structure. The player can choose the hero’s development to be more defensive, supportive, or offensive. So every hero on our list can play any position.

After the player chooses their hero and determines his role, the software matches him with nine other players and randomly assigns two teams to the map.

The struggle, like a story structure, consists of three phases. In the first stage, players start to develop their heroes while weighing their opponents and placing them on the map.

In addition to the experience points gained as they struggle, the items that our heroes will earn or buy throughout the game, like magic objects, potions and weapons in epics, help their development. While strategically fighting each other, they also try to get stronger faster than their opponents.

The first phase ends when one of the parties knocks down the opponent’s first turret. In the second phase, team play comes to the fore, teams try to go to the opponent’s base by determining a progression strategy on the lanes. The real collision and the struggle that determines the fate of the match are experienced at this stage.

The third phase begins when one of the teams enters the opposing base. Now a final and epic defense begins. But even at this stage, HotDA offers an experience where things can change and the match can turn.

From the beginning to the end of the three-phase match, HotDA immerses the player in its own story with its strategic experience as well as competitive and exciting thanks to the richness of characters, skills, magical items and roles of the heroes.

STORY AND THE WORLD

Our story is based on the experience our players will have. The best-known heroes from all over the world, who lived in the epic periods of the dark ages or whose stories belong to those periods, constitute our character gamut. These are the heroes whose legends such as Dede Korkut, Beowulf, Siegfried, Attila, Mulan, Sinbad have survived to the present day by telling them from language to mouth, that is, they have become immortal in a way.

Our players are poets who retell the epics of these heroes. In HotDA’s unique mythology, a monster we call Gallusar (a kind of manuscript and story monster found in Sumerian and Titivillus also in Roman mythology) stole the stories of the world’s most famous heroes and built a world where those epics were imprisoned forever.

As this world survives, our heroes fight in an eternal arena and continue their saga in the world from where they left off.

And our players are poets who write these epics, that is, their own epics.

Gallusar actually brought these heroes to this world, not their stories. Everything in those stories, their people, their people, their loved ones, their belongings, their horses, even their houses and castles. In other words, the art design of our game has an aesthetic that includes the most well-known versions of the world’s most famous fairy tales.

Everything in our world is made of stories. Therefore, according to our story, neither blood is shed nor one dies in these wars; In this sense, our story takes place in an extremely young-age-adaptive world.

He promised to release the monster heroes if our players can tell the legends of these heroes in the best way possible. In other words, our heroes fight longing for home in this narrative arena floating in the endless void.
